If you sometimes feel like you are on a ship in the middle of the ocean with high waves as a result of low blood sugar you might be suffering hypoglycemia, we are going to explore what are the causes of this condition because it is important to know what is going on in our body in order to do something about it. We are going to point out the probable causes and a solution.
Hypoglycemia is not a common disease on people that do not suffer from diabetes, low blood sugar can be present on early stages of pregnancy, prolonged period of fasting, extended hard exercise, medication like Bactrim and Septra that block the beta cells of the pancreas that produce insulin, alcohol, adrenal fatigue or because an insulinoma (a rare tumor in the pancreas).
The cause of Hypoglycemia in diabetics is provoked by taking to much insulin relative to their blood sugar levels.
Glucose is the main source of energy in our body, it is produced during digestion by breaking down carbohydrates and it is absorbed directly into our bloodstream after we eat and when its levels rise the pancreas releases insulin that in turn unlocks the cells so glucose can enter and nourish the cell. The glucose not used at this point is stored in the liver as glycogen, if we do not eat for sever hours the liver breaks down the stored glycogen and releases glucose back into our bloodstream.
In the other hand adrenal glands produce cortisol that is used to convert fats, carbohydrates and proteins into glucose, with lowered levels the liver has a more difficult time converting stored blood sugar (glycogen) into active blood sugar (glucose).
It is very common in people not suffering diabetes and once ruled out medical conditions like tumors to develop hypoglycemia as a consequence of bad eating habits and adrenal fatigue. This condition can be reversed by implementing an hypoglycemic diet and fortifying the adrenals.
It is very important to learn what to eat correctly to improve our low blood sugar condition.
