Stop your body exceeding this and avoid dehydration by taking on plenty of fluids.
"Expect to lose 3-5kg of weight during a marathon," says Charlie Pedlar,
physiologist at the English Institute of Sport [eis2win.co.uk).
"You need to drink 1.5 litres of water to replace every kg lost."
