When being diagnosed bipolar it may seem like things just couldn't get worse, but you have known for sometime that there is something wrong. It is reported that bipolar sufferers can have symptoms as young as 5 years old but some may not experience symptoms until their 20's. Many will have suffered years of what they thought was depression, or some may have thought they were just extremely moody. More that likely, the symptoms accrued until they became unmanageable for the sufferer, which ultimately lead you to the doctor. Being diagnosed bipolar may have been a relief to finally have an answer to why you have been acting a certain way. Many feel a sense of relief once diagnosed because they feel that they now know what has been wrong with them. A diagnosis does not mean it's the end of the world, matter of fact it means the complete opposite. It means that you can now begin a treatment and medication plan. The options vary for bipolar treatment, but there are many. Your physician will decide the best treatment plan for you. It should be followed closely; possibly having a chosen adult to make sure that medication is taken daily. Sometimes it occurs that a bipolar sufferer will feel better and think they no longer need their medication, which can prove to be disastrous. It is very important that all treatment plans are followed closely and monitored by a doctor regularly. Coping with a bipolar diagnosis can be difficult, but proper treatment is key.
